Red Cross In South Africa

(N Z Press Association— Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) JOHANNESBURG, May 3. The South African Red Cross said in an official statement today that it had assurances from the Minister of Native Affairs (Dr. Hendrik Verwoerd) that the Native Laws Amendment Bill would not mean interference in the society’s activities. The bill, now before Parliament, provides, inter alia, that nobody shall conduct without approval of the Minister a church, school, hospital, club, institution, and so on in an urban area outside African townships if it is attended by Africans.
