KICK-INTO-TOUCH RULE
N.Z. Union Denies Allegation (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 2. An allegation that the referees for yesterday’s Rugby trials at Palmerston North had not been advised officially that the amended kick-fnto-touch rule was to be enforced was denied today by the secretary of the New Zealand Rugby Union (Mr G. H Geddes). Mr Geddes said that his union wrote to the New Zealand Referees’ Association, advising as to which matches the rule would apply. The advice was subsequently passed on to the delegates who attended the referees’ annual conference at Whangarei. Mr S. Whiteford had applied the rule without question at Christchurch on Wednesday. Mr Geddes added. It was said at Palmerston North yesterday that the referees. Messrs D. Hancox (Wellington) and H. McNeill (Hawke’s Bay) intended to stick to the international laws, having received no official advice to the contrary. They later acceded to the request of the selectors’ convener (Mr J. L. Sullivan) to apply the amended law DRAW FOR SATURDAY ALTERATIONS and CORRECTIONS Under Bst 71b: Rau v. Pap. H. 5.0.8., Kaiapoi 1. 145 p.m. fP. J. Heeson). Under 18: New Bri. v. Lin., N.P. 11. 1.30 p.m. Weighing-in will be held at the Pavilion (Armagh st., entrance), at 10 ajn.. Saturday morning. All Under 7st 71b Grade matches are Competition Games. • —Advt.
