Traffic Control
Sir, —After reading “Solicitor’s” letter I would like to state my experience. On April 20, at 10.55 p.m., while travelling east in Gloucester street, on reaching Colombo street -I was held up by an exceptionally heavy stream of traffic coming from the Square. I crossed as soon as possible and pulled up by the kerb on the other side to pick up a passenger. I was amazed when an officer appeared and asked why I had held up traffic behind me. I stated I crossed as soon as safety permitted. He then asked for my warrant of fitness, driver’s licence, and registration, and asked how long I had been driving. I stated 30 years. He then suggested I leave my car at home at night. All this arose through cautious driving.—Yours, etc., MOTORIST SINCE 1926. April 29, 1957.
