NUCLEAR BOMB TESTS

Hurunui L.R.C. Call For Ban

Copies of a resolution calling for a ban on atom bomb and hydrogen bomb tests will be sent to the Prime Minister (Mr Holland) and the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nash) by the Hurunui Labour Representation Committee. The resolution reads:— “The members of the Hurunui L.R.C. request that all nations immediately ban tests of the hydrogen bomb and all nuclear weapons for war purposes, and in its place all nations work for world peace and the good of all countries. We feel that the world is waiting for the great moral leadership to abandon these tests, and Britain has this opportunity in connexion with the coming tests on Christmas Island. “We feel also that the continuation of these tests can spell finish to all life on this planet. “We therefore ask you and your Government to use your influence in no uncertain manner on behalf of the peoples of Nev/ Zealand to have all nuclear tests, especially that of the H bomb, abandoned.”
