STRUCK BY CAR AT INTERSECTION
Elderly Man Killed At Levin (New Zealand Press Association) LEVIN, April 28. A 76-year-old man died within minutes of being hit by a car at the corner of Oxford and Devon streets, Levin, shortly after 6 o’clock last evening. He was: Edward Stanley Morgan, of Roslyn road. Levin. The car, driven by Mrs Edna Winnifred Grubb, of Wellington, was proceeding south when the accident occurred. FARMER DROWNED IN CREEK (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 28. A Pakotai farmer was found drowned in a creek on his property yesterday afternoon. He was William Rudolph, aged 64, married. Mr Rudolph had been missing from his home since yesterday morning. Car Overturns In Loose Metal (New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, April 28. Edward Patrick Lam, aged 17 years, of 423 Cuba street, Lower Hutt, a passenger in a car driven by his father, was admitted to Palmerston North Hospital at 2.45 p.m. yesterday suffering from concussion. His injuries were the result of an accident on the AwahuriPalmerston North main highway when the car skidded in loose metal, ran off the road and overturned. Truck Strikes Car And Post After a light truck in which he was riding struck a car and bounced against a lamp post in Marine parade about 9.20 p.m. on Saturday, Morris Shaw, of 10 Grasmere street, was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital with internal injuries. His condition last evening was satisfactory. K. Peters, who suffered nose injuries in the same accident, was treated and sent home. Youth Badly Hurt Blasting Timber (New Zealand Press Association) HASTINGS, April 28. Extensive injuries were received by Reginald McLeod McLeod, aged 17, of Victoria street, Hastings, while blasting timber yesterday. He received serious burns to the legs, arms and face. His condition on admission to Hastings Hospital was critical, and tonight he was on the seriously ill list. Pinned Beneath Car (New Zealand Press Association) HASTINGS, April 28. A car was wrecked and its driver pinned underneath it last night when it left the road, smashed through a fence and hit a power pole. The driver was held beneath the car for some time before he was released by an ambulance driver and onlooklookers. He was taken to hospital with slight injuries. The car, owned by Mr J. L. Hill, of Havelock North, was converted from outside a restaurant 10 minutes before the accident occurred.
