Creditors’ Meeting Lapses
There was no quorum at a meeting yesterday afternoon of the creditors of Bernard James Jarman, a labourer, who was adjudged bankrupt on April 15. After the Official Assignee (Mr G. W. Browne) had questioned Jarman, the meeting lapsed. Jarman said he started contracting on his own account in 1948. and did fairly well until 1953. His bankruptcy was caused by ill health, lack of work, and adverse weather. His liabilities ♦were £227 5s sd. He had no assets. At present he was working for £l2 12s a week, with the prospect of getting another job at £l3 a week. Some equipment, including a tractor, which he had bought on a hire-purchase agreement, had been repossessed by tne finance company. He had to Bu PPort a wife and three children, as well as a child by a previous jnarriage, and could make no offer awards payment.
