Legal Conference Sports Day
A sports day was held yesterday at the conclusion of the Dominion legal conference, which has been held in Christchurch during the last week. Many took part! in golf, bowls, and tennis, in good conditions. Golf was played at Shirley, tennis at Wilding Park, •nd bowls on the Riccarton Winter Bowling Club’s rubber green. The Riccarton bowling green, which was a little faster than grass, was new to all the players. Trophies were won by L. J. H Hensley (lead) and T. W. McCowan (skip). Twenty-four took part.
The wind bothered some of the 90 men and 30 women golfers. Winners of the Canadian foursomes were D. L. Tompkins and G. C. P. Beadel. with E. A. Cleland •nd A. B. Hobbs as runners-up The women’s four-ball bogey match was won by Mesdames J C> Hare and H. R. C. Wild. At Wilding Park, a progressive mixed doubles competition was played with an entry of about 50 The winner of the men’s section was G. C. Broughton, with R. D. Richmond and J. S. Reynolds as runners-up. In the women’s section, Mrs M. C. Gresson won from Mrs M. W. Wisheart.
