Bowls EASTER TOURNEY AT NELSON

Christchurch Four’s Win (New Zealand Press Association) NELSON, April 25. A team from the Barrington (Christchurch) club, skipped by D H. Joseph, won the Nelson Easter bowling tournament, the final of which was played on Wednesday afternoon. The winners beat L Scully’s Tahunanui team, by 21-10 on 20 ends in the final. Joseph, an experienced tournament player, was a member of P. Munn’s four which won the New Zealand rinks championship in 1941. He was twice runner-up in the New Zealand pairs and has won 19 club titles. Other members of his team were A. Hobbs, M. Barnett, and A. Craven.

Beckenham Ladies’ Club

At the closing day of the Beckenham Ladies’ Bowling Club, prizes won during the season were presented by the president, Mrs R. S. McDonald. A pairs competition resulted: Mesdames E. Tindall and A. Turner (3); runners-up. Miss Laing and Mrs R. Hocking.
