CHRISTCHURCH L.R.C.
Mr L. J. Mouat New Secretary
Mr L. J. Mouat has been elected secretary-treasurer of the Christchurch Labour Representation Committee, replacing Mr M. A. Connelly, M.P., who did not seek re-election. There were two nominations for the position. The president (Mr T. Martin) and the vice-president (Mr T. M. McGuigan) were re-elected unopposed. Messrs Martin and Connelly were elected the committee’s delegates to the annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party. There were 15 nominations for the five seats on the executive, and votes will be counted this evening. Voting is on the preferential system.
Mr Mouat has had long experience in both the political and industrial sides of the Labour movement. He is a sheet metal worker employed by the Railways Department, secretary of the Addington branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants and president of the Spreydon branch of the Labour Party.
