Passengers Saved From Ferry

(Rec. 11 p.m.) TOKYO, April 22. The Onomichi City Council today recommended that Mr and Mrs Masato Yamane be officially honoured for saving more than 40 persons when the overloaded Japanese ferry-boat, Kitazapa Maru, capsized and sank in the Inland Sea on April 12. A total of 237 passengers were aboard the vessel at the time of the accident. Of these, 124 passengers were rescued from the ferry-boat, which had a registered passenger capacity of 77. An official casualty list today reported 79 bodies had been recovered from the wreck and 34 persons were still missing.
