RETURN OF KING TO GREECE

PLEBISCITE APPROVED FOR SEPTEMBER 1

ATHENS, June 26. A bill providing for a plebiscite on September 1 on the single question of whether King George of the Hellenes shall or shall not return to Greece was approved by the Greek Chamber of Deputies after an all-night session. The Liberals abstained from voting and the Venizelist Liberals and National Unionists voted against the measure. The correspondent of the Associated Press says that the session was an acrimonious one and that the decision is sure to embitter the Left Wing, which points out that the measure fails to draw a clear-cut issue between a constitutional monarchy and a republic, and provides for two ballots, one headed “King George” and the other a blank on which a voter might write in “Republic,”
