AMERICAN LOAN TO BRITAIN
BANKING COMMITTEE’S APPROVAL (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jun 17. The House of Representatives Banking Committee, formally reporting its approval of the proposed loan to Britain, said the financial agreement would be helpful to the United States and the entire world. The alternative would be a risk that the world would be divided into economic blocs with the ever present danger of economic warfare intensifying • international hatreds, jealousies and suspicion. Under these conditions United States efforts towards maintaining peace would certainly be doomed to failure. The House begins the debate on the loan next week.
