NEW ZEALAND STAMPS PRAISED
SUGGESTED EXAMPLE TO BRITAIN
(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, June 18. Claiming that Neiy Zealand, which “has produced many striking stamp issues,” should serve for an example to Britain, a correspondent in the “Daily Telegraph” criticises the new British peace stamp issue. The correspondent, after pointing out that Britain prints many of the world’s most attractive stamps for other people, claims that in recent years new British stamp issues have rarely shown originality or artistic merit. The New Zealand 2Ad stamp issued for the Empire Chambers of Commerce is reproduced by the newspaper to illustrate what the correspondent describes as an issue of beauty and originality.
