POWER RATIONING IN NORTH ISLAND

« FAVOURITISM FOR AUCKLAND BOARD ” (P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 18. Another shot in what is becoming known as “the Battle of the Power Boards” was fired this morning when the Load Controller of the Waitemata board (Mr A. Main) dispatched another urgent telegram to the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser), again complaining of the Auckland Power Board’s “default” in adequately reducing power consumption. In the telegram of more than 650 words, Mr Main states in part: “Instead of the Auckland Power Board voting £lO,OOO to restore some old church in London, those moneys, which belong to the consumers, should be used by that board to install up-to-date frequency control of its water heater system, as other modern cities and boards have done.” He adds that the favouritism being shown the Auckland Power Board is the subject of strong resentment by all other supply authorities in the North Island.
