GLENTUNNEL SCHOOL

Sir,—Your correspondent “ExScholar” should haye- signed himself “Progress.” His contention is what was good enough-Xor-my grandfather is good enough for me. When I was a child such things as electricity, motor-cars, aeroplanes, and many now generally used inventions were practically non-existent; but that doesn’t prevent, me from letting my children share in the benefits from these devices. Education, tbo, has advanced during the last 50 years; and why shouldn’t the pupils of Glentunnel share that advance if at all possible? Highly qualified men and women will still emerge from the school—conditions being exactly as they were in “Ex-Scholar’s” days—free education and no bus rides. Finally, much as I dislike to disappoint “Ex-Scholar,” I have no intention of having a family of 13.—Yours, etc., PARENT OF THREE. June 13, 1946.
