SAVAGE CLUB
VICTORY NIGHT PROGRAMME Victory night was celebrated instead of the traditional Empire night at the Christchurch Savage Club’s korero on Saturday evening. Great Chief J. Lorimer presided, and guests of honour included the Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews), the Town Clerk (Mr H. S. Feast), Lieutenant W. Riley (Navy), Wing Commander F. R. Dix (Air Foyce), and Messrs D. W. Russell (R.S.A.), R. G. Fisher (Home Servicemen’s Association), and A. E. Flower (Canterbury University College). Ah address on the Empire and its war leaders was given by Dr. J. P. McQuilkin. Musical selections were given by the club orchestra, conducted by Savage H. Glaysher, and items by Messrs V Carruthers and N. McConnell and Savages C. Burrows. W. Toomey, D. V. Wilson, B. Hutchins, W. Tanner, and V Read. Savage G. Russell was accompanist.
