ACCOMMODATION AT THE
HERMITAGE Sir,—Having travelled for five months through New Zealand and sampled first, second, and third-class accommodation during that period. I cannot understand the complaining letter which recently appeared in Sour paper about the service at the hermitage. Mount Cook. I spent, some time at the Hermitage this months and found the service comparable to or much better than many of the socalled first-class hotels in the cities of the Dominion. When one considers the . isolation of the Hermitage, the difficulties of transport, and, above all. the difficulty, at the present tune, of getting and keeping a staff together, everi in the cities, it is a pleasant surprise to find such hospitality and excellent service being carried on. I can fairly say, in answer to the disgruntled correspondent, that the management and service and food at the Hermitage left nothing to bg desired. —Yours, etc., „ _ „ L.ER. June 13, 1946.
