MILK SUPPLY IN SCHOOLS
INQUIRIES TO BE MADE ISSUE TO ST. BEDE’S COLLEGE An allegation that St. Bede’s College has been receiving “more milk than it knows how to deal with,” while some primary schools have been short of it, made at the annual meeting of the Canterbury School Committees Association last night, provoked a brisk discussion. . The allegation was made by Mrs H A. McGilp, who said that inquiries would prove the truth of her claim. Several members said that if the allegation were proved correct, the association must take action. The association had always urged that in the distribution of milk, priorities should be train the primers up. Secondary schools should not receive milk while infants went without, said the secretary (Mr A. Greenwood). The matter must be inquired into. Details were given by several members about supplies to primary schools. Belfast was receiving none, said a delegate; and other primary schools, delegates claimed, had had a supply for only three days this term. “If this Is true we should get on oui hind legs and do something about it.” said another member. The meeting finally decided to make intensive inquiries into .the allegation and, if it were substantiated, to take appropriate action.
