LABOUR AND THE SLUMP
Sir, —As a public servant of to-day, who was lifted from the “Sugar-bag Army” when Labour came into power, I find Mr Holland’s reply to “T.H.8.” very anomalous. Mr Holland claims that any k suggestion that the National Party will reduce the public services is “just another Labour lie.” Certain National Party interests have actually been assured by Mr Holland that his first job, if returned to power, will be to banish the Internal Marketing Division. Will Mr Holland please line up these two conflicting statements in the interests of a large number of querulous State employees in many departments. Is it to be as ‘‘T.H.B.” suggests, back to the ‘‘Sugar-bag Army?” This is an issue which will need to be clear cut before ballot day.—Yours, etc.,
DOUBTING THOMAS. May 22, 1946.
