WORLD FOOD SHORTAGE

Sir, —‘‘Can the leopard change his spots or the Ethiopian his skin?” I have read with some disgust the reports of meetings of the Federated Farmers with regard to the world food shortage. It seems to me that this organisation is nothing more than the old politically biased Farmers’ Union, run by the same old crowd and not averse to using the present world crisis for political propaganda purposes. We all know that more production of all foodstuffs is required; and if these good people are genuine, I suggest they put their hand to the plough and get something done on their farms instead of continually moaning. If we all approached our jobs in that spirit, nothing would be done. —Yours, etc., SATIS VERBORUM. June 10,. 1946.
