GOVERNMENT OF INDIA

REQUEST BY MOSLEM LEAGUE PARITY WITH HINDUS DESIRED (Rec. 11.45 p.m.) LONDON, June 10. “The president of the Moslem League (Mr Jinnah) has sent a, letter to the Viceroy (Lord Wavell) saying that the principle of Hindu-Moslem parity should be observed in the formation of an interim central Government,” reports the New Delhi radio. “Mr Jinnah suggested that any departure from the principle of parity would antagonise the Moslem League and might even prevent its collaboration.” Reuter’s correspondent in New Delhi says the parity question is the real obstacle to be surmounted before a settlement can be reached.
