A NAPIER MYSTERY
<, EXCAVATIONS BY POLICE “ The Press ” Special Service ’ AUCKLAND, June 8, The fact that five or six policemen have been digging in a rubbish .dump on the South Pond at Port Ahuriri for some days has aroused widespread interest in Napier. The site of the digging is behind the Port.Ahuriri School,.where the party is shovelling and forking through rubbish excavated from a hole about 20ft long,- 12ft wide and 6ft deep. Since the time the task was commenced digging Has continued daily from early in the rribrning until nearly dusk. .Certain objects have already been removed from the dump, but In the absence of any official statement their cpnnexion with the police activities cannot be revealed. The search is reported to have followed upon the death of a resident of the district recently.
