DEERSHOOTING ACCIDENTS
Sir,—Regarding deershooting accidents, I myself have been shot at on Pudding Hill, Methven. The only thing that saved me was poor shooting, as three bullets came within a few feet of me, so 1 lay down and crawled away. I would suggest that all deershooters should be compelled to get a police permit stating the place where they anticipate shooting. In this way one shooter would know of any other shooter, and the farmers would know who was on their property. The permit should be granted on oath that the trigger would not be pulled till the person was certain, of what he shot at; and good advice could be given to all sportsmen or others, leaving no excuse for offenders.—Yours, etc., SPORTSMAN.
