VEGETABLE PRICES

Sir, —In a recent issue of The Press” you published the prices to rule for early potatoes this coming spring. The price is £42 10s on delivery to September 30. I have been a grower over a number of years of early potatoes, and early spring cabbage for market during August and September, and I state most emphatically that it costs more to grow and market one acre of spring cabbage than it does one acre of early potatoes. Yet the powers that be, in their wisdom, quote the ridiculous price of £lO a ton as adequate to grow and market spring cabbage.—Yours, etc., S. SINCOCK. June 7, 1943.
