Mr N. R. Stanton, secretary of the Industrial Manpower Committee, who became ill at Nelson and went to Greymouth by aeroplane, is a patient at the Grey Hospital, and is now progressing satisfactorily.
M. E. C. Bathurst (Ashburton) has been nominated as a candidate for the Canterbury Education Board, as a representative of the south ward, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr G. W. Armitage. Mr Bathurst was nominated by the chairmen of the Ashburton Borough, Ashburton East, and Allenton School Committees. He was a member of the Allenton School Committee for 21 years, for 11 of which he was chairman, and is a member of the Ashburton Technical High School Board, chairman of the Ashburton Health Camp Committee, and a former chairman of the Ashburton East Dental Clinic Committee. Mr Bathurst is also a member of the Ashburton Borough Council, and is Ashburton district Coroner.
