LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Puzzled.—Army rates of pay for a married private with three children under 16 are 7s 6d a day for the soldier, 3s for his wife. Is 6d for each child, and 2s 6d domestic allowance. An aircraftsman second class with one or more children receives £274 a year and a domestic allowance of £45 a year is paid direct to his wife. In addition he is compelled to allot £l7 10s a month to his wife, who thus should receive a total of £2l 5s a month.
