1 CHRISTCHURCH CLUB G. T. Weston (72) beat J. H. Mortlock (83) in a match for the War Memorial , Cup, played at the Christchurch Golf Club, both men having tied In the second round on Saturday. The best cards in -a four-ball bogey were those of D. Swift (3) and F. W. Pankhurst (13), 4 up; N. S. Bowie (4). and N. W. Robertson (9), 4 up; W. Caldwell (6) and C. Caldwell (8), 3 up; S. Morris (7) and H. J. McGavock (9), 3 up; Mrs Toomey (9) and Miss P. Norton (12) 3 up; Mrs A. Boon (15) and Mrs E. Watkins (16), 3 up: J,. A. Haynes (15) and Mrs Haynes (27). 3 up. The tournament was continued yesterday with a Stableford single. Best competitors were: A. O. McLean (6), 34 points: L. G. Eliimsky (14), 34 points; H. J. McGavock (9), 31 points; N. S. Bowie (4), 31 points. A bisque-bogey competition resulted as follows:—C. Caldwell (8), 3 up; C. M. Kavanagh (16), 2 up: and Mrs N. H. Skinner (19), 2 up. The tournament will be continued today with a 36-hole stroke competition. HAGLEY CLUB In the semi-finals of the Meares Cup played at Hagley, F. Piper beat p. G. Greenwood and W. Mackenzie and D. Hoare were all square. In the semi-finals of the Hagley Cup, J. J. Staples beat A- L. B. Boss and D. Crozier beat E. Braggins. In a bisque bogey competition the following were the best scorers:—S. Jameson (17). 6 up; T. White (17), 4 up; P. G. Greenwood (7), 2 up.,, AVONDALE CLUB The first Stableford aggregate was played by members pf the Avondale Golf ■ Club on Saturday. Leading scores were as follows; —D. Larnach, 27, 15—42; H. Kane, 24, 14—38; R. Minson, 29, 8—37; T. G. Kennedy, 24, 13—37; F. A. Smith. 30, 5—35; C. C. A. Barnard, 28, 7—35. WAITIKIBI-BUBWOOD CLUB The best cards in a stroke handicap in the week-end were:—D. Neill, 88, 9—79: Mrs B. Miles, 98, 18—80; Mrs W. Latham. 103, 22—81. HAGLEY LADIES’-. CLUB The monthly bogey match was won by Mrs J. E. Gudgeon in the first grade and Miss J. Miller in the second-grade. The best scores were:—First grade;-Mrs J. E. Gudgeon (10), 2 down; Miss E. RUSSLEY LADIES’ GOLF CLUB The monthly bogey match played by the members of the Russley Golf Club resulted in a win in the seniors for Mrs B Thomas, and in the junior for Miss G. B. Hill.
