A NORMAL MONTH

MAGNETIC OBSERVATORY FIGURES

There were no abnormal features'aboul the weather in September. Meteorological data collected by the Christchurch Magnetic Observatory show that the mean temperature was 48.66 degrees, while the average for the month of. September is 48.5 degrees. The total sunshine for the month was 152.7 hours, this being below the normal of 163.5 hours. Although there were only four days on which rain was recorded, the total for the month was 2.35 inches. The normal rainfall for September is 1.93 inches. The heaviest frost for the month was 12.9 degrees This was the heaviest in September since 1929, when 12.1 degrees was recorded.
