DEALINGS COMPLETED
Government and Banks New Zealand Government 4 per cent, stock, due 1946, changed hands at par. Buyers of the 1949 bonds raised their bids to £lOl 2s 6d without attracting sellers. E., S., and A. Banks had business at £5 4s, and more were offered at £5 3s 6d. Buyers of Commercial Bank of Australia raised their bids to 15s lOd, but sellers wanted UJs. Bank of New Zealand were firm, with sellers and dealings at 42s 6d, buyers at 42s 3d. Felt and textiles were firmer on buyers' offers, 31s. Buyers of Tooths Brewery moved up to 53s 3d, but sellers were reticent. Miscellaneous Australian Glass were firmer, with buyers at 91s 6d. British Tobaccos rose to 47s 6d, and" more were wanted at that price. Broken Hill Proprietary had dealings at 56s 6d, 56s Bd, 56s Id, and 56s 2d. Buyers of Dunlop Rubber raised their bids to 20s 3d. Electrolytic Zinc were stronger at 41s, sellers staying in at that price, buyers at 40s lid. The preference advanced to 465, and more were wanted at 46s Id. sellers at 46s 6d. G. J. Coles were firmer, with dealings at prices ranging from 77s 9d to 77s 2d, closing quotations 77s buyers, 77s 3d sellers. Taranaki Oilfields were firmer at 13s, 13s 3d, and 13s 4d, market closing 13s 3d buyers, 13s 4d sellers. Woolworths were stronger, with buyers and dealings at 21s 3d. Mining 1 Broken Hill South had business at 30s, and more were offered at that price. Mount Morgans were firmer at 10s IOJd, 10s lid, and lis, and there were further buyers at the highest price, sellers at lis id. North Broken Hill were weaker, with sellers at 44s lOd, buyers at 44s 3d. Mount Lyells moved up to 27s 3d.

Turnover on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterdaywas moderate. Most of the dealings took place on the afternoon call, and prices on the whole were firm to better. There was a stronger demand for Government loans.
