OBITUARY
MRS D. P. SHEPPARD The death occurred in Masterton last week of Mrs Maude Margaret Sheppard, wife of Mr D. P. Sheppard, of the Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd.. Mrs Sheppard was born at Cust, North Canterbury, the youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs George Searles, pioneer settlers of the district. After her marriage, she lived at Waimate and Christchurch. and 15 years ago went to Masterton. She was an active worker for the Anglican Church at Kuripuni. She is survived by her husband, three sons, Messrs W. Sheppard, of Pahiatua. D. Sheppard, of Hamilton, and W. Sheppard, of Greymouth, and two daughters, Mrs S. Finlayson, of Palmerston North, and Miss A. Sheppard, of Masterton.
WOMEN'S. TEMPERANCE
UNION
At the monthly meeting of the North Brighton branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, Mrs D. Goldman presided. Resolutions were carried expressing sympathy with the relatives of the late Bishop Julius, the late' Jessie Mackay, also with Mrs H. Irwin in her recent bereavement. Mrs M. R. Claridge reported that two big parcels had been sent to Sister Morgan's Maori mission. Mrs R. Parker reported on the recent convention. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames W. B. Short, J. H. Mcllraith, and E. A. Felton. PRE-WEDDING PARTY Mrs W. H. Trerigrove entertained a number of friends at her home to honour Miss G. Grange, whose marriage will take place next week. The time passed pleasantly with flag 500, the winners being Mrs Grange, Mrs C Knight, and Mrs Owens. Those present were Mesdames' J. R. Grange, L. J. Lewis, L. Irving, Stuart Duff, W. B. Falvey, G. Pope, J. L. Arnott, J. D. Griffiths, W. J. Owens, R. Anderson, R. Robertson, A. Mangin. Misses G. Grange, P. Knight, K. Sma-t. O. Knight, M. Hapell, and J. Trengrove.
