♦— — - MR WEBB ENTERTAINED AT REEFTON - ] I From Our Own Reporter.] 1 REEFTON, September 22. i The Hon. P. C. Webb (Minister lor Mines), continuing his South Island tour, to-day inspected the pakihi land development scheme at Westport, and left later for Reefton, where he arrived in the afternoon. The Minister's first duty at Reefton was to open a new Plunket and women’s rest room. A large crowd assembled for the ceremony. Mr Webb praised the work of the Women's Institute, by whose energies principally, he said, this new building had been erected. Speakers gave the Minister a warm welcome. Later he w*a <fce guest of the Inangahua County Council at dinner as a tribute to his work as Minister for Mines. Mr W. Clayton, acting-chair-man of-the council, welcoming him, described Mr Webb as one of the most practical Ministers for Mines ever to hold the portfolio. Afterwards Mr Webb addressed a political meeting. To-morrow he will leave for Mom- i eka. . |
