ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE

__— « DISTRICT COMPETITIONS IN CHRISTCHURCH Thu annual inter-district and district competitions of the St. John Ambulance Brigade in Canterbury and Westland will be held in Christchurch next Thursday and next Saturday. The trophies, which will be competed for, include a shield for ambulance divisions lor first aid work and transport, and one lor nursing divisions for first aid, transport, and direcing the transport of a patient from ambulance van to bed. Individual competitions will be held in first aid improvising, bedmaking, sheetchanging. roller-bandaging, oral home nursing. .These are open to ambulance and nursing divisions and ambulance men and women throughout New Zealand. Competitions open to ambulance i and nursing divisions in Canterbury and Westland include one lor a challenge; cup for nursing divisions for first aid and home nursing, a' competition for home nursing only, and one for members who have not won other * than a divisional competition. For ambulance divisions, there is a shield for first aid, cycle transport and improvising. Another competition is open to both ambulance and nursing divisions. There are a number of trophies for individual events, such as the champion squad leader, both men and women, roller bandaging for men, and an interesting competition between North.and .South Canterbury —a first aid bee.

The officer in charge is the Assist-ant-Commissioner, Major J, W. Crampton, assisted by the district secretary, Mr F. T. S. Kudd, District Officers 3. Dickson and C. A. Marks, Lady District Superintendent Mrs F. Bishop, Lady District Officers Mrs M. Cordy and Miss F. L. Cooper, Corps Superintendent P. Wentworth, and Lady Corps Superintendent Mrs A. C. Fricker.
