ITALY AND THE JEWS
LENIENCY SHOWN BY MUSSOLINI PROPERTY TAX OF TWENTY PER CENT ON EMIGRANTS (Received September 20, 10.30 p.m.) ROME, September 20. Following Signor Mussolini's reference on September 18 to his leniency towards Jews it is reported that Jews leaving the country will be allowed to take 80 per cent, of their property. The remaining 20 per cent, will be retained provisionally to cover taxes due. The Jewish community will be authorised to establish schools under Government control.
