ATHLETIC CLUB
AMATEUR BODY AT GREYMOUTH AFFILIATION TO BE MADE WITH CANTERBURY Immediate steps to affiliate with the Canterbury Centre of the Amateur Athletic Association are to be taken by the committee of the recently formed Greymouth Amateur Athletic Club. This was a decision made at the first meeting of the committee held on Monday evening. Mr T. P. Ryan presided. A sub-committee was set up to make inquiries about a supply of uniforms in the club colours, and Messrs W. Mann, E. Bastings, and J. Lynch were invited to arrange for an examination of athletic equipment available, at the Technical School. In an effort to enrol women members, it was decided to call a general meeting of women early next month. The appointment of a delegate to the Canterbury Centre was held over. The following new members were elected:—Messrs M. O'Connell, N. Kiely, R. Watson, O'Leary (2), C. R. McGinley, R. Watts, D. A. Reid, M. Gough, M. Morel, J. Shannon, J. McVicar, L. W. Pedrotti, J. Dixon, D. Dick, V. C. Gilmore, H. de Freatus, Watson, R. McDougall, A. Stuart, J. and A. Vaughan. It was necessary, Mr Ryan said, that professional athletes who desired to be reinstated as amateurs should fill in and return the prescribed forms immediately. Mr S. McDonnell was instructed to deal with all such applications.

FORMALITY"
HON. P. C. WEBB'S CONTEST FOR BULLER SEAT
Stating that the election as far as the Buller seat is concerned will be a mere formality. Mr W. H. Woodcock (chairman of the Westport branch of the Labour Party) said that the Hon. P. C. Webb (Minister for Mines) would probably not spend much time in his own electorate, and his address to-night would in all probability be the only one given by him in the Buller district during the campaign. Mr Woodcock read a letter from Mr Webb saying that he would be visiting Westport to give an address tonight, and the following day would open the new rest rooms at Reefton He also stated that he would be associated with the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) on his tour of the South Island.
