TESTS DISCUSSED
BRANCH OF ROYAL SOCIETY
MEETS
Written tests for life-saving examiners were discussed by the Canterbury branch of the Royal Llfe T Saving • Society last evening. Particulars of the New South Wales system of .written tests for examiners were received by letter from the Sydney centre of the society, and members discussed the practicability of the plan in New ZeaIn' Australia the tests were open to bronze medallists, and those who were successful became eligible to examine for the society awards. The suggestion will.be sent.forward to be discussed at the coming annual meeting of the New Zealand Council of the socictv* This "meeting will be held on October 22 at Wellington, and will be merged into the annual conference ox branch delegates. The constitution will be discussed so that it can be amended. Two delegates can be sent by each branch. " , . Mr R. C. Gibbons tendered hte resignation, which was accepted with regret. Mr Gibbons, who was on the
examiners' panel and the local executive, is leaving for Australia. An intermediate certificate was granted to Miss Bessie Williams. The annual grant of £lO 10s from the Christchurch City Council will be payable in February.
