AT RUGBY PARK

Lancaster Park, for the use of a section of which two summer sports organisations have been bidding, will agam be devoted chiefly to cricket this season. No announcement was made regarding the fate of the application b;y the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amatlur Atiiletic Association lor the use of the south ground for athletics during the summer, but it was learnt from athletic officials last evening that arrangements are now almost complete for the lease of Rugby Park to the centre by the Canterbury Rugby The' union will shortly undertake a building and improvement programme at Rugby Park, which will include the provision of a new stand and a field area which will permit of a quartermile oval track complying with international athletic requirements. It is hoped that athletics in Canterbury will thus at last find a permanent horns. , The oval at Lancaster Park will, it is understood, still be available for New Zealand and Canterbury championship athletic meetings and meetings at which visiting international athletes compete.
