NEW ANTI-TANK GUN DEVELOPED
SUPERIOR WEAPON IN USE BY AMERICAN ARMY (Received September 14, 8 p-m.) WASHINGTON, September 13. General Malin Craig, the United States Army Chief of Staff, announced that the army had evolved an armour-piercing anti-tank gun, vastly superior to those of other countries. It ,is a 37-millimetre mobile unit, with an extremely high muzzle velocity, and o\ orwhelmingly long range and fire power. A smaller weapon for close quarters is being developed. BLIND-FLYING DEVICE ANNOUNCED SIMPLE EQUIPMENT TO ASSIST LANDING
(Received September 14, 8 pm.) WASHINGTON, September 13. The United States Navy is testing a simple automatic blind-flying landing device which is claimed to be foolproof. Two converging cables giving off radio signals are buried in an aerodrome. and pointers on the aeroplane’s instrument board show the machine’s exact position on the landing path. The aeroplane’s equipment costs 175 dollars and that for the aerodrome 5000 dollars.
