SHOW HELD AT GLENTUNNEL

* —_ MALVERN INSTITUTE’S GROUP EXCELLENT STANDARD OF WORK % A successful show organised by the Malvern group of Women’s Institutes was held recently. The general standard of the work was excellent. The cup for the most points in the show was awarded to the Glentunnel Institute, with 212 points Sheffield being runner-up with 69 points The trophies awarded in the various sections were won as follows: —Knitting Miss I. M. Gilmour. Thrift: Mrs D. Dickie •Needlework: Mrs E. Burmeister and Miss I. M. Gilmour (equal). Handwork; Mrs L. A. Marshall. Cooking: Mrs D. Boyes Home industries: Mrs P. Roper and Mr* G. N. Chapman (equal). The judges were:—Knitting, Mrs Taylor; thrift, Miss Nelson; needlework. Mrs Gardiner and Mrs Cunningham: hand' work, Mrs Gardiner and Mrs Cunningham; cooking, Miss Rennie; home industries, Mrs Gunn. Mrs Ross Macdonald, president of th< North Canterbury Federation opened th< show and praised the standard of the wort and congratulated the members upon th( display.
