AIR RECORD HOLDER KILLED
BOMBER BURNED AFT%O CRASH LONDON, September 12. Squadron Leader M. Adam, A.F.C., holder of the world’s altitude record of 53,937 feet, and Flight Lieutenant R Monks, of the Experimental Aircraft Squadron, Famborough, were killed, and a civilian wireless operator, A. Bond, was seriously burned when a bomber crashed and caught fire. Fire brigades were unable to put the fire out.
