PRESENTATIONS MADE AT AKAROA

Archdeacon A. J. Petrie, vicar of Akaroa, recently presented Mr C. W. Lcete with an easy chair and Mrs Lecte with a tray and morning set in recognition of Mr Leete’s long service to St, Peter’s vestry as vicar’s warden and synodsman. Mr Petrie and Mr Riches, churchwarden, who accompanied him, explained that the presentation was from the congregation, who all appreciated Mr 'Leoto’s long service to the church. Archdeacon Petrie has received a letter from Mr Lecte thanking the vestry for the presentations made to Mrs Lecte and himself. Mr Lcete, who is more thap 80 years of age, has been a supporter of the church for many years. AKAROA GIRL GUIDES Mrs C. Dalbeth presided at a meeting of the Akaroa Girl Guides The acting-captain (Mis Averill Mclntosh) reported on meetings of the guides held during the last two months. The roll number was nine., Miss Mclntosh renorted that Mr F. J. A. Wright had offered to put in, windows and netting at the scout house free of charge. It was decided that the committee arrange for the transport of the girl guide troop to Christchurch at the rally during the visit of the representative of the Chief Scout.

The North Canterbury Rugby SubUnion intends to invite the Temuka Rugby Football Club to send a seniorteam to Rangiora to play a match with a North Canterbury team shortly. The match, which is an annual one, was last year played at Temuka. LAKESIDE HALL ELECTION OF COMMITTEE A substantial credit was shown in the balance-sheet presented at the annual meeting of Lakeside residents for the election of a hall management committee. Four members of the old committee did not seek re-election.

The new committee comprises Messrs F Lambie (chairman), R. Skilling, .lun. (secretary), F. McCormick, A. Lochhead, W. Lambie, jun., E. Winchester, and M. Alexander.
