LAWN TENNIS

ANNUAL MEETING OF CLUB AT WOODEND The annual meeting of the Woodend Tennis Club was held in the Public Hall, Mrs J. Ballinger presiding. The following officers and committee were appointed:—Patron, the . Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes; president, Mrs Ballinger; vice-presidents, the Rev. W. S. Neal, Messrs W. H. Judson, A. G. Williams, A. E. Appleton, R. Burnet, J. Soiithen; committee, Mesdames G. Little, G. Gimblett, Misses J. Moody, Joan White, Laura Durie, Messrs L. Ford, and M. Chinnery; delegates to association, 'Messrs W. Percy and G. Gimblett; secretary and treasurer. Miss N. Chinnery. An opening tournament match will be played on September 17. Six new members were present. The date of the opening was left open to permit the secretary to ascertain the opening date of the cricket season.

AMURI LADIES’ GOLF CLUB

The Amnri Ladies’ Golf Club played a Ladies’ Golf Union medal match recently. The best scores were;— Mrs P. R. Dearden, 98, 22—76; Miss J. Mcßride, 110, 32 78; Miss G. Boag, 88. 17—81; Mrs A. Robinson, 100, 18—82; Mrs D. C. Macfarlane, 102, 19—83; Miss C. Boag, 103, 19—84; Mrs G. W. Todd, 114, 30—84. In an extra Ladies’ Golf Union medal match the best scores were:—Mrs R. E. Grant. 107, 34—73; Miss G. Boag, 96, 17— 79; Mrs M. Bethell, 96. 15—81; Miss C. Boag, 103, 19—84. The Bethell Cup (two best rounds out of three, medal play) was won by Miss M. Oldman. Best scores were: Miss M. Oldman, 81, 66 —147; Miss J. Mcßride, 73. 78—151; Miss G. Boag, 81, 79—160; Mrs M. Bethell, 81, 81—162; Miss C. Boag, 79, 84—163; Mrs L. H. Davison, 79, 85—164; Mrs A. Robinson, 83, 82 —165; Mrs D. C. Macfarlane, 82, 83 —165; Mrs P. ’R. Dearden, 93, 76 —169; Mrs A. A. Macfarlane, 81. 90—171.

The Macfarlane Cup competition, resulted as follows:—Semi-finals: Mrs A. Robinson beat Miss J. Mcßride, Mrs G. W. Todd .beat Miss S. Dampier-Crossley. Final: Mrs A. Robinson beat Mrs Todd, 3 and 2.
