FATAL ELECTRIC SHOCK BOY'S DEATH UNDER HOUSE i,rBES3 ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) THAMES. March 11. Alexander Frederick Feisst, the nine-year-old son of F. Feisst, of Beach road, received a fatal electric shock on Saturday through grasping a live earth wire under the house. His father last saw his son alive at 11.30 a.m. When he failed to appear for dinner, a search was instituted. The police were informed at 6.30 in the evening and picture audiences were notified of his disappearance. It was thought the boy had gene out with some fishermen, but a search of the foreshore was without result. Early yesterday morning the father recollected the boy saying he could recover a ball from under the house. He searched there, but saw nothing in the darkness. A further search after daylight revealed the boy's body with his hands on the earth wire. Sparks were still coming from the point of contact. The boy had received the full force of the 240-volt house service. One finger was burnt through and another nearly severed. An inquest was opened, and after the father's evidence it was adjourned to enable the police to investigate the circumstances of the live earth wire being under the house. LACERATION TO HANI) Severe lacerations to his left hand were received by James Sheppard, a butcher employed by Dixon Bros., Cashcl street, shortly after noon yesterday. Sheppard, who resides at. Princes street, Woolston, was working at a machine and his hand became caught in it. He was taken by the St. John Free Ambulance to the ChristchurcU Hospital, where he underwent an operation. His condition is satisfactory. GIRL'S GALLANT RESCUE /PRESS ASSOCIATION TJXKGIIAM.i DUNEDIN, March 11. While the presentation of a cheque for £ll and an attache case was being made on Saturday by Ravcir-:-bourne residents to Leslie Todd, who gallantly rescued a boy from drowning in December, a four-year-old boy fell into the harbour and was rescued by Cora .Jurvis, 18 years of age. She dived in fully clothed. The rescue was watched by a large crowdFATAL INJURIES (IT.ESS ASSOCIATION TELF.iili AM.) WELLINGTON, March 11. Following on a collision between a motor-cycle and a motor-car near Paraparaumu, the cyclist and a pillion rider were admitted to hospital with extensive injuries. Ronald Seddon, aged 18. of Levin, who was riding on the pillion, suffered a compound fracture of the skull and severe concussion, and died today. Clifford Hayes, 18, also of Levin, a farm hand, suffered severe lacerations and a fracture of the right leg. His condition is satisfactory. Dense smoke from a burning swamp clouded the road at the time of the collision. DEATH IN HOSPITAL (riIESS ASSOCIATION THLEGIIAiI.) WELLINGTON, March 11. Receiving very serious injuries when he was thrown from a motorcj'cle at the summit of Paekakariki Hill, yesterday afternoon, J. C. White, a farm hand, employed at Paekakariki died on admission to the hospital. He suffered a fractured skull, concussion, and shock. As he was travelling alone, il is not known how the accident occurred, but he appeared to have struck a fence. The front wheel of the motor-cyclc was completely buckled. DROWNED IN A LAGOON (TRESS ASSOCIATION - TELKGfiAM.i HOKITIKA, March 11. William James Hayward, single, 21 years of age, was drowned while swimming in the Okarito lagoon on Sunday morning. Pie came from Waiau, North Canterbury. The body has not been recovered.
