INDIAN RUNS AMOK
VILLAGE TERRORISED MANY PERSONS KILLED (Received March 10, 7 p.m.) CALCUTTA, March 9. The former convict Venkanna ran amok with a knife and terrorised the village of Tadepalligudem in the West Godavori district of Madras. Eight persons were injured, four of them fatally. The first outrage occurred last Sunday, Venkanna stabbing three persons, including the village magistrate. On Tuesday he reappeared, injuring two more men. He attacked a girl and decapitated her with one blow of a huge knife. He subsequently slashed off half the face of another man and disappeared into the jungle. The villagers are panic-stricken and afraid to venture out after dark. A large force of police combed the district unsuccessfully. night Venkanna suddenly entered a village and attacked a man who tackled him. Venkanna leaped a wall and fell into a well, i where he was drowned.
