WATERFRONT DISPUTE

♦ DEPARTURE OF TEES DELAYED The departure of the Chatham Islands steamer Tees, which wns to have left Lyttelton on Saturday for the islands, was postponed owing to a dispute between the railway waterside workers and the Railway Department. It is stated that the railway watersiders declined to start work on the Tees unless one man, who had been receiving compensation for injuries, was given employment. They allege that since lie ceased to receive compensation the man had not been given work, although others, who had been paid compensation for longer periods, had been employed. The dispute has been referred to the Local Disputes Committee, but the Tees will not sail before this afternoon.
