ROWING
I UNION CLUB Mr C. A. Cooper presided at a meeting of the committee of the Union Rowing Club. Closing day was set for March 30. The committee decided to have an old members' race in addition to the usual races. The social committee reported that dances held recently had proved successful, both socially and financially. It was decided to renovate the club rooms. The single sculling handicap races lor Die Gee Cup were rowed off this week. Results were as follows: — T. Harris <3sec) beat W. Cooper (ssec) by a length. W. Corliss (ssec) beat A. llcKenzie (scr) by a length. E. Vallance (3sec) beat F. Byrne (scr) by three-quarters of a length. H. Henry (Bsec) beat A. C. Smith (2sec) by half a length. .W. Corliss beat H. Wild (lOsec) by a length. E. Vallance beat M. Cullen <ssec) by three-quarters of a length. - T. Harris beat H. Henry by a length. W. Corliss beat E. Vallance by half a length. Final—T. Harris beat W. Corliss. Corliss looked an easy winner, but jammed his slide and lost two lengths. He ihen gamely carried on to a good finish, in which he was beaten by one-third of a length. INTER-CLUB RACES EVENTS FOR TO-DAY A series (if inter-club ratts will be rowed on the Avon to-day between crews representing tin; Cure, Sumner-Kedclilfs, and local oarsmen who have not computed .it regattas. The course will be tho same as in the head of the river races, and the same' officials will act. The following is the order of events: 2.30 p.m., Inter-club Fours—First heat: Avon v. Snmner-Redcliffs No. 2. 2.40 p.m.,. Inter-club Fours —Second heat: Canterbury No. 2 v. Union. 2.50 p.m., Inter-club Fours —Third heat: Canterbury No. 1 v. Sumner-liedclifl'.s No. 1. 3 p.m., Double Sculls —First beat: Cure v. Suinner-Redeliffs No. 1. 3.J0 p.m., Double Sculls —Second heat: Avon v. Sumner-Redcliffs No. 2. 3.20 TJ.ni., Double Sculls —Third heat: Union v. Canterbury. 3.30 p.m., Inter-club Fours— Semi-final. 3.40 p.m.. Inter-club Fours— Serni-linal. 3.50 p.m.. Double Sculls— Semi-finnl. 4.10 p.m.. Inter-club Fours— Final. 4.20 p.m., Double Sculls—Final.
