CYCLING

AVON CLUB ANNUAL MEETING After a successful first year's existence, the Avon Amateur Cycling Club held its annual meeting last evening, when Mr H. T. Evans presided over a good attendance of about 60 members. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said that the club had had a most successful year. He complimented the committee in having produced such a wonderful growth in the membership and in the number of activities. He regretted the dispute which had arisen with the Canterbury Centre over holding road races in the closed season, but although the club would be in the right in ignoring some of the dictates of the centre, he urged the club to use only constitutional powers when trying to remedy matters. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The excess of income over expenditure for the year was £2l 16s Id. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.; patronesses, Mesdames E. G. Pearl and M. Jones; president, Mr H. T. Evans; vice-presidents, Messrs C. Collins, E. McLaughlin, C. H. Bascand. A. Barrett. W. Berryman, R. H. i Neill, G. Gourley, P. Haddon, V. Wilkinson, G. Lowis, F. E. Pearl. C. E. Jones, and Dr. G. Haskins; captain, Mr A. C. Hands; vice-captain, Mr G. Savage; honorary secretary, Mr R. M. Griffith; honorary treasurer, Mr C. Jones; committee, Messrs H. G. Kilpatrick, R. Williams, C. Jones, D. J. Knight, J. Hamilton, H. D. London, J. Treacy, and W. Berryman; honorary handicappers, Messrs H. G. Kilpatrick and A. C. Hands; honorary starter, Mr J. Hamilton; referee, Mr D. J. Knight; | judges. Messrs J. Hamilton, H. D. London, R. Williams, and C.
