MONICA PARK SPEEDWAY

THREE INTERNATIONAL STARS FOR SATURDAY " 'Tiger' Stevenson was seen at his best last Saturday night," said a Sydney writer, referring to his performance at a recent meeting at the Empire (formerly the Speedway Royal) track. "He gave a display that thrilled the crowd. He also excelled himself in the test riders* scratch race by winning the final from Max Grosskreutz in lmin 3 3-ssec. It was a wonderful finish, and had the crowd continually on its feet." This internationally famous rider, who captained England for four years in test matches, and who was for six years captain of his home team, West Ham, will be seen at Monica Park on Saturday, along with his test riding companion, Arthur Atkinson, and the spectacular Australian international rider, Billy Lamont. Stevenson has brought four Sydney records with him this season, two laps in 39 3-ssec, three laps in 59 4-5 sec; two laps, clutch start, in 44 3-ssec; and three laps, clutch start, with starting gate, lmin 3 l-ssec, equalling Grosskreutz's time. Stevenson's companion, Arthur Atkinson, though only 21 years of age, has won a place among the best riders this season, and has thoroughly justified his place in the English test team. Having once had a painful injury from a piece of flying dirt, he came to the conclusion that the only certain way of avoiding that was to get the lead, and he rides for it accordingly. Lamont has perhaps ridden on more dirt tracks in the world than any other rider, and has held a whole trunkful of records, including the world's championship. He has ridden for Australia in test matches 25 times. With these three world-famous stars, and also Jack Hobson, who is about to leave under engagement to the

broadsiders' Mecca, Wembley Stadium, Christchurch speedway patrons are offered an exceptional programme for Saturday.
