MOTOR RACE MEETING
EVENTS AT NEW BRIGHTON TROTTING GROUNDS The first grass track motor race meeting of the season will be held by the Pioneer Motor Club next Saturday afternoon on the picturesque grounds of the New Brighton Trotting Club, commencing at 2.15. Judging by the number of entries received for the various events, and the performances of those who will be competing, there should be a full afternoon of thrilling racing. Two handicap races will be confined solely to light cars, those competing being J. R. Tench (Singer), C. R. Hay ward (Austin), B. Little (Wolsely Hornet), J. Courage (Singer), and B. J. Tench (Singer). For the motor-cyclc events the following are the acceptances, including a strong team from Nelson: A. Bradley (Rudge), A. Miller (Velocette), J. Webbey (Rex Acme), A. Laurenson (Coventry Eagle), A. Flitcroft (Ariel), S. Rhodes (A.J.S.), L. E. Cooke (Ariel), V. C. Browne (A.J.S.), A. B. Napper (HarleyDavidson), A. J. Lamport (2i O.K. Supreme), J. F. Neely (Ariel), G. A. Veale (Ariel), R. W. Dixon (HarleyDavidson), M. H. Rush (Norto ). N. B. Newton (Ariel), J. K. Craig (O.E.C. Jap), and L. V. Etwell (Ariel).
Training operations are in the hands of Mr A. J. Harper, who states that the track is in first-class order and will again be available between 5.30 and 7 o'clock this evening to those who will be racing on Saturday, fine weather, there should be a large attendance to see what promises to be an exciting and interesting afternoon's racing.
