The contest resulted in some very fast times over moderate surf, and included some w ell-

judged reel -work in deep water and some reliable assistance from some of Hie reel men. Errors oE judgment from the beltmen resulted from tbe presence of casual bathers towards the buoy. Sutherland was the first out, and strayed to the right, mistaking a distant bather for the subject. G. Cooper, the bellman ot the winning team, struck good water, and though side-tracked by a lint her. made the second fastest lime, and was assisted by a linesman and reelman who knew their work thoroughly.
