MONICA PARK SPEEDWAY

* THRILLING RACING PROMISED TO-NIGHT According to the Monica Park schedule, to-night's broadsiding will be the second to last regular meeting of the season, which will conclude with a charity meeting on Saturday, March IC. In addition, to-night will be the only opportunity which speedway patrons will have this season of seeing the famous Dick Case, who is known as a most spectacular rider, and Lionel Van Praag, Australia's "Flying Dutchman." Van Praag showed by his form last week that he was easily the best dirt track star at Monica Park this year, and when he meets Case to-night, he will have to produce even more speed than he showed on his first appearance. Van Praag will also be seen in an attempt to lower Burton's track record for four laps, and judging by Lis time last week over three laps, he has an excellent chance of doing so. Both Case and Van Praag are wellknown throughout the speedway world, and their services are in keen demand on the leading dirt tracks. As they are going abroad almost immediately, Christchurch patrons are fortunate in having this opportunity of seeing the two together. Both riders are international test representatives, and their standing, on their present form, may be judged by the fact that in Sydney only two or three weeks ago they were starred in special match races; Case against this year's Australian champion, Wilkinson, and Van Praag against "the Terror of the Speedway," as he is known —the Englishman, "Tiger" Stevenson. Another feature of to-night's meeting will be the appearance of those excellent local riders, Hobson, Riiodes, Higgins, and Roscoe, who have not been together for a few weeks on account of minor injuries to one or another.
